Pieces at the Dentist Office

IMG_0334This week I delivered two small paintings to the dentist office. Now I just need to get the big one done. I feel a lot like Pollack in the movie struggling with the white canvas.

My Favorite 52s

I chose Summer Sky Horizon for March because I love the photograph from the April show at the floristĀ  in a setting with two other paintings. I thought I hit on a good next step from the woven pieces with the abstract landscape idea, but I don’t know if looks enough like a landscape to really call it abstract landscape. I prefer pure abstraction or non-representational art, but I always second guess myself when I paint. Should I include recognizable objects? Will that make it more appealing to potential buyers? Or should I just keep doing this and try to find the right fit?

I just don’t know. In the meantime, I am happy with these small 9 x 9 inch pieces. I did a number of them throughout the year.

Leftovers from 2012

Here are two of three pieces from 2012 that I will be posting in their correct places as well.

I am trying to get through a difficult time with a car accident and scheduling so I may be very busy painting this summer to catch up.

I love showing my students this work. Makes me feel like I know something they don’t know. And they seem wowed by it. Pretty cool, huh?

The piece I was supposed to finish by the end of January

I am off to rough start this year with my goal of 12 large paintings in 12 months. There is quite a lot going on with my teaching, so I have been having a hard time focusing on painting. I hope to settle into a routine soon.

I am still working on my first painting of the year.

Here it is in progress. What do you think so far?
